CHICAGO & THE TWIN CITIES
Welcome to the Midwest chapter of Hedge Funds Care!
Hedge Funds Care Midwest, founded in 2002 by Elizabeth Foster of Kilkenny Capital Management, L.L.C., has distributed over $5.4 million to combat child abuse and neglect. Because of its strong partnerships within the alternative investment industry, HFC Midwest has awarded 159 grants, making a demonstrable difference in the lives of hundreds of children and families. We have had the honor of working with some of the most respected agencies in the Midwest - with inspirational people who have devoted their careers to fighting this insidious social issue. We look forward to many years of successful collaboration with our expert agency partners, through the support of our generous industry donors. The Annual Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit is held each May in Chicago.
In 2005, the Committee of Hope was founded by Jennifer Edgcomb of GEM Realty Capital, for rising industry professionals so that they, and their peers, could make a difference in the lives of abused children and contribute to the Midwest Chapter of Hedge Funds Care in their own way. The funds raised at Committee of Hope events are combined with those raised at the annual Chicago benefit, creating an even larger contribution to local organizations dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. This Committee is currently chaired by Stacy Witcher and Marcel Haas, holding an annual Bags Tournament in the summer and a Fall Affair cocktail party every fall.
The Twin Cities Committee was founded in 2007 by Angela Samfilippo of Pine River Capital Management, the committee's current Chair, to broaden the scope of the Midwest Chapter. Since 2003, the Midwest Chapter has made grants in the Twin Cities area to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. With a Committee dedicated to this geographic area, we are looking forward to continuing and growing our support of children in need. The Twin Cities Committee hosts the annual Kuhn Cup Paddle Tennis tournament and Holiday Hold'Em Poker Tournament.
We would like to thank our 2013 Corporate Benefactors for their leadership support:
