NEW YORK CITY Hedge Funds Care East Coast, the first branch of Hedge Funds Care, was founded in 1998 by Rob Davis. To date, Hedge Funds Care East Coast has distributed over $9.7 million through 294 grants. With the continued generous support of the local Hedge Fund community, we look forward to many years of helping our community partners in the fight against child abuse and neglect. Most recently, the East Coast Committee of Hearts raised over $2,000,000 at the 12th Annual Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit on February 25, 2010 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Spearheaded by co-chairs Dean Backer of Goldman Sachs and Richard Baker of the Managed Funds Association, the event was a huge success, welcoming over 1,000 guests for a sumptuous cocktail reception and raising funds for the support of child abuse prevention. This year's benefit honored Michael Novogratz, President of Fortress Investment Group, Liya Kebede, and Lee Daniels, Director and Producer of Precious. The East Coast Junior Committee of Hearts was formed with the goal of raising awareness about the Hedge Funds Care mission among rising industry professionals. The Committee’s inaugural fundraising event was held in June of 2004, and its subsequent events have witnessed spectacular growth in popularity and success. The proceeds from these annual events are distributed in grants to support supplemental mentoring and financial assistance to foster youth students who receive financial scholarships for college. The 2010 Annual Event will be held this fall, and details will be announced soon. The East Coast Golf Committee was formed in 2008 to expand the reach of the East Coast branch solely through funds raised by golf tournaments. This year's tournament was a wonderful success, raising over $80,000. Please join us for the 3rd Annual Tournament on July 19th at the Greenwich Country Club. Committee List(s)
